Echoes of the Past

The further into the forest the thicker the trees…

After dedicating about a month to learning Unreal Engine 5, I decided to create a 'Ruins' test project to enhance my understanding of the toolkit. Also,  I would like to express my gratitude to the free Unreal Sensei masterclass on YouTube, where all technical aspects were explained in a clear and comprehensive manner. I ensured to implement all the advice and techniques learned in the subsequent project.

The primary objective was to gain a deeper understanding of the toolset provided by Unreal Engine. Throughout this project, I focused extensively on vegetation and landscape, recognizing them as key elements in the creation of digital environments. By delving into these aspects, my aim was to elevate the visual appeal and overall realism of the virtual world.

Better understanding of the Landscape tool allowed me to feel free on the next Mayen project. Also, I had a lot of fun with the Foliage tool. Placing the vegetation on the landscape was one of the most soothing and relaxing parts. Moreover, this time, the approach to situating 3D assets from Quixel Bridge was more deliberate, contributing to achieving a sense of compositional unity.
